The Responder's Family Ritual

Simple, non-verbal rituals to ease the transition from work to home, strengthen your bond, and support emotional resilience.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Available now, The Responder's Family Ritual was co-authored by Tyler Pereversoff, RCP, and Rhian Lois Wight, CCC, drawing on what each of them has lived firsthand: life as a first responder, and life around one.

Who It's For

First responders at any stage of the job, from their first year to their last, and the partners and families who share a home with them. You don't need a diagnosis or a crisis to pick this up.

Rhian Wight, M.A., C.C.C., is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with nearly a decade of clinical experience helping individuals and couples transform overwhelming stress into resilience, clarity, and deep connection. Her extensive background spans the full continuum of mental health care, including specialized frontline work in Residential Addictions and leadership roles as a College Director and Regional Student Services Manager for mental health. Rhian has also served as a regional manager for a government-funded agency specializing in return-to-work rehabilitation, giving her a deep, systemic understanding of career transitions, chronic pain, and operational burnout. Blending this diverse leadership experience with a trauma-informed lens, Rhian utilizes evidence-based frameworks like the Gottman Method, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). In her lived experience, she has lived through the impacts of mental health on the family and follows these family rituals. Through her work with Code 200, she collaborates closely with first responder peer support networks to deliver specialized resiliency training. Recognizing that traditional talk therapy is not always enough, she co-authored the book The Responder's Family Ritual—a widely featured blueprint designed to give frontline families practical tools to leave operational stress at the door and protect their partnerships. Whether hosting immersive weekend workshops with CODE 200 or with Retreat Counselling providing strategic mental health consulting, Rhian is passionate about regulating overwhelmed nervous systems and creating empowering spaces where personal and relational wellness can thrive with small changes that make big differences.

Between them, this book carries what neither could write alone.
